Compression Levels: 15–20 mmHg vs. 20–30 mmHg

Two compression levels

Vix now offers two compression levels, so you can pick the one that matches what your legs actually need.

15–20 mmHg — Everyday

A steady hug you notice for a minute, then forget. Made from our soft, breathable bamboo blend. Great if you're new to compression, or want it for desk days, flights, mild end-of-day swelling, pregnancy comfort, tired legs, or everyday self-care to help keep varicose veins from setting in.

20–30 mmHg — Medical Grade

Unmistakably snug at the ankle — supportive rather than gentle. Knit in nylon, since holding a firm gradient all day takes a stronger fiber than bamboo. Best for back-to-back shifts, chronic leg swelling, varicose veins, severe venous insufficiency, DVT (deep vein thrombosis) prevention, recovery, or any level your doctor has specifically recommended.

Both levels share the same graduated compression design: firmest at the ankle, easing as it climbs up the leg, working with your veins to push blood back toward your heart instead of letting it pool.

Which one is right for you?

  • New to compression, or just want comfort during travel or long days on your feet → 15–20 mmHg
  • Managing a diagnosed condition, chronic swelling, or a doctor-recommended level → 20–30 mmHg

This is general guidance, not medical advice. If you have diabetes, arterial disease, reduced sensation in your legs, or a diagnosed condition, please check with your provider before choosing a compression level.

Getting the right size

Fit matters at either level, but especially at 20–30 mmHg — too loose and you lose the pressure gradient, too tight and it can dig in at the top of your calf.

  • Measure your calf first thing in the morning, before any swelling sets in
  • Wrap a soft tape around the widest part of your calf, snug but not pulling
  • Use both your calf measurement and shoe size to find your size
  • Between sizes? Size down for more compression, up for less. If your calf is at the top of a range, go Wide-Calf
